During our school days, some teachers used to cane boys and girls with the foot ruler when a cane is not available or no time to bring one from office. Once I got a sound caning with a ruler. That day I forgot to do my homework. The master had no cane and also no time to bring one from office. He borrowed a foot ruler from a boy. We thought he will hit on our palms. But unfortunately he called all -- about five -- boys who forgot homework to front of the class. Each of us was ordered to lean against the teachers table and given sound caning with the ruler. I was the second. I went and lean against the table trembling with fear. First the master tapped my short-clad bottom with the ruler. Then fear was unthinkable. He raised the ruler and landed it on my poor bottom. It was like my bottom was burning. I began to rub my bottom. He shouted to me asking keep my hand out of my bottom. Then he gave three more. Those days at primary classed we used not to have underwear beneath our shorts. So, the pain was unbearable. It was difficult to sit after caning. After going home, in my room, I remove my shorts after locking the door and saw. My bottom had become red.
